The Veritas varsity cheer team put on a show in the state cheer tournament to close out the month of February and the 2023-2024 season. The Eagles competed against three other programs in the region: Christ Preparatory Academy, Wichita Homeschool, and Kansas City East Christian Academy.

Each team had two minutes to show off their show to the judges. While the cheering at sports events during the season mostly consisted of catchy chants and beats to get the crowd into the game, the performance on February 29th stood to showcase more of the team’s athleticism and balance through stunts and flips while still demonstrating their cheering abilities.

To the surprise of many people, despite a strong performance the Eagles finished fourth. Wichita came in first, followed by Kansas City, then Christ Prep. While the results were disappointing, it was clear that the team did not let it get to them. Even after their competition was over, they showed their spirit by staying and cheering for the basketball teams as they finished the tournament.

With no seniors on the team, this young Veritas cheer squad is looking to come back next year even stronger as they continue to improve and gain more experience. The future is bright for the Eagles!
